I mentioned in my previous post that we were applying for a camp for young adult cancer survivors. We received a reply today regarding the application. Here was the reply:
Hi Cole,We received your application for one of our camps. Unfortunately, we only serve young adult cancer survivors at this time and cannot accommodate you. In an ideal world, we would like to accommodate everyone but since we are a non-profit with limited funding, we have chosen to concentrate on this demographic.
HHHMMMMM….
I am contemplating which part of ‘their demographic’ Cole does not fit! In fact, I sent them an email asking that very question. I will share the response when it comes. Just once, this year, I would like something to be easy–but then I would have to start taking the road more traveled to possibly change my course. …now I have much to contemplate!

Oh… so they thought he had the wrong type of tumor. Well, yes, that makes sense….
We are back in business with the cancer survivors camp. The coordinator was not educated in Cole’s type of tumor…but he is now! Stay tuned.
Very interesting….wonder what nonsense answer they are going to give. Or, will they realize that this generic, computer generated response is not good practice and actually use real people with real love and compassion to answer your question. Life’s twists and turns can be quite perplexing.
